Gray wins Fans' Award

It seems to have become something of an annual event at this time of the year. Last year it was Ade Akinbiyi, in 2004 John McGreal and the year before that Richard Chaplow picked up the award.

The votes are cast online by supporters and one lucky voter wins the opportunity to present the award to the winning player; that has usually been a member of this site's message board after a strong campaign to support the player.

The voting took place in November after Andy's superb October which started with two goals against Norwich and ended with another brace away from home, the two goals at Luton. And let's not forget the late winner against Preston.

It's some good news for Andy following his injury last Tuesday when he broke three metatarsals in the win against Leeds, an injury that could keep him out until February. He will be making use of an oxygen chamber in the hope of speeding up the recovery but even if successful we will still be without him for at least six weeks.

Andy joins the other divisional winners – Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Danny Hollands (Bournemouth) and former Claret Andy Marriott. Marriott is something of a surprising choice, he's kept only one clean sheet all season and has conceded no fewer than 41 goals in 22 appearances.
