Gray in demand

Andy Gray
It's no surprise to see other clubs coming in for him. Right now only Kevin Phillips and James Beattie have scored more Championship goals than him this season, even though Andy is having his quietest spell of the season and hasn't scored in any of his six previous games.

His last goals were in fact in that 3-1 win at Charlton. He scored the first from Robbie Blake's free kick and ended the scoring with a penalty following the hand ball by Danny Mills. No wonder Alan Pardew is interested in him, he was the man of the match that afternoon and caused Charlton considerable problems.

Charlton's offer of £1 million is considerably more than we paid Sunderland for him under two years ago, but even were we interested in selling, and it has been said we don't need to sell, they would have to offer their offer considerably.

The other two clubs claimed to be interested in signing Gray are Cardiff and Ipswich are both thought to be ready to offer cash plus players in attempts to sign our leading scorer.

Meanwhile, the Clarets have supposedly joined a host of Championship clubs keen to sign Luton midfielder David Bell. The 23-year-old midfielder joined Luton from Rushden & Diamonds. He's a central midfielder who can also play wide, either on the left or right.

With the current situation at Kenilworth Road the administrators look almost certain to sell him this month but West Brom, Leicester and Ipswich are also keen.
