Grant Ward on the Clarets' wanted list?

Rotherham United have had the benefit of Tottenham's Grant Ward on loan this campaign but are unlikely to hang onto the player this summer.

The pacey wide man has spent the entire season on loan from Tottenham Hotspur and has become one of the mainstays of the Rotherham side.

Tottenham Hotspur recently demonstrated how highly they regard Ward. The Spurs have offered him a new extended contract until 2018. Ward who is just 21 years old has made great progress whilst on loan at the Millers.

Sean Dyche is a known admirer of the flying wideman and Ward's progress will not have gone unnoticed by the Clarets recruitment staff.

Ward has had other loan spells, notably with MLS outfit Chicago Fire and Tony Mowbray's Coventry City.

Ward is a versatile player, Mowbray used him in a midfield three where he was not confined to a wide berth. He can orchestrate a game from midfield, this aspect of his game is interesting given the difficulty of making the grade at the highest level.

Players who cannot fulfill multiple roles are less valuable than those who can. Ward's experiences whilst on loan have proved that he can be just the exception to the usual journeyman wideman.

One for the future perhaps? (TEC).
