Good and bad news for injured Clarets

Matt Taylor is facing surgery and has been ruled out for the foreseeable future

I'm sure Taylor would have loved to have been involved this Saturday against West Ham, his previous club. He scored for them on the Turf just under a year ago, netting their first of two penalties in the Capital One Cup tie.

He's been out of the Burnley side since being replaced by George Boyd at Crystal Palace with the post match verdict revealing an Achilles injury. It was not thought, at the time, to be too serious but today's news is that he requires surgery and will be out of action for the foreseeable future.

Elsewhere there is good news. Both David Jones and Danny Ings are fit again. Jones has missed the last two games whilst Ings has been ruled out for three since picking up a hamstring injury in the first half at Palace.

Added to that, Nathaniel Chalobah is fit again after suffering a wind pipe injury in the Under-21 cup defeat against Hull.

Dean Marney, also missing for two games in the midfield, is considered touch and go whilst Kieran Trippier, stretchered off at Leicester, and taking far too much time in doing it according to home boss Nigel Pearson, and Michael Keane, injured on England under-21 duty, are both being assessed.

The news on the two defenders sounds encouraging.

We are going to have a much stronger squad to select from than was the case in the two away games at West Brom and Leicester.
