Goalkeeper search continues

Kasper Schmeichel - linked with a loan move to Burnley
Today though, Westerveld’s agent Tony van Dalen claims he knows nothing about it and says there has been no contact with Burnley. “I’ve heard nothing about Burnley,” van Dalen said. “Someone would have phoned me to tell me so I don’t believe it. Sander is not happy as he is not playing but the season is far from over and I don’t think he’ll go.”

So the speculation continues. Yesterday it was Everton goalkeeper John Ruddy but that’s out of the question with the 19 year-old signing a loan deal with Rushden & Diamonds this morning. And before we can suggest Iain Turner, the third choice keeper at Goodison Park, he’s also moved out for a month today to Wycombe Wanders.

Latest name in the frame for a short term move to Burnley is Spurs 19 year-old keeper Tommy Forecast. Although he has not played any first team football he is highly rated by the White Hart Lane goalkeeping coach Hans Segers.

Last Saturday, before the red card, Burnley fans were chanting “Denmark’s Number One” at Brian Jensen and there’s even been suggestions of another Dane coming in, none other than Schmeichel. That’s not the former international keeper but his son Kasper who is at Manchester City.

Whoever it is going to be, we will have to wait a while yet with Steve Cotterill suggesting there won’t be any news until the beginning of next week at the earliest.
