Goalkeeper and then midfield

Michael Stewart - still a target
It is looking very likely that after a whole series of keepers were discussed as possible, even likely, signings that it is a name not considered at all until recently that could well be our next signing.

It did look as though West Ham’s Stephen Bywater was on his way to the Turf but it appears that talks broke down and Stan now has turned his attentions to the Beast of West Brom Brian Jensen. Local reports are suggesting that this deal could be completed very soon indeed.

But what about midfield. It seems an age since we brought the news that we were chasing some Manchester United players on loan. It all seemed to go quiet but there is no doubt that Stan is still looking to bring in Michael Stewart and could also do a deal to sign Blackburn’s Neil Danns, both coming in on loan. There is though competition for Stewart but there is always competition for good players.

One Supporters Group Chairman has spoken out against doing such deals with these two clubs but surely if they can come in and do a good job for Burnley Football Club then that has to be the priority.

It doesn’t look as though there is any imminent news on these players but it would be no surprise if we didn’t move within the next ten days prior to the players returning to full training.

There has been a change of attitude from the fans this week with the first of the new signings although that has taken something of a knock today with Stan saying that the season’s target is just to stay up.

Some more signings, there should be another seven or eight according to the Chairman, will certainly give everyone a further lift.
