Gillingham 0 Burnley 3

The Clarets took to the field with the same starting 11 as against Wigan on Saturday but in a 4-5-1 formation leaving Ian Moore to do the running up front and relying on Robbie Blake, Luke Chadwick and Glen Little to support from midfield.

It's a style of play that hasn't always been successful for the Clarets but it worked a treat in Kent as we ran out deserved 3-0 winners.

Ian Moore grabbed the first after doing well to keep the ball in play on the touchline he cut into the box and beat the keeper at his near post.

3 minutes later Blake played a great pass through for Chadwick who cut the ball back to Dean West who slid in and connected perfectly with his left foot to send the ball into the far corner. It remained 2-0 at the break.

The Clarets had to withstand some pressure from the Gills in the second half but generally looked comfortable and might have added to their lead on a couple of occasions.

As it was we had to wait until just over 10 minutes from time when Little released Blake who stepped inside his man and found the corner of the net to make it 3-0 to the Clarets and truly game over.

Full report from the travel weary Clarets to follow later.
