Gazza and his minder in demand

Gascoigne looks set to be offered a coaching role with Clyde who are in the Scottish League Division One and their manager, and Gascoigne’s former team mate at Spurs, Graham Roberts has said that he is desperate to get into coaching.

That’s exactly where he was a year ago as player/coach at Boston but he soon left there and has since struggled to get another opportunity. The one thing holding things back now is the fact that he needs a hip operation and the offer again includes playing.

Roberts only took over at Clyde last month and wanted to make Gascoigne one his first signings, it looks as though it will all have to wait now until he’s had his operation and got fit again.

Gascoigne once employed the Sinister One Glenn Roeder as his minder and today there’s news that Roeder is back in football having been appointed the academy manager at Newcastle, replacing John Carver who lost his job as academy director after a reshuffle.

Roeder played for Newcastle in the 80s and this is one ground where he is apparently popular and it is believed the fans will be happy with this. He is not expected to ask any of the youngsters to tie the laces of anyone’s boots.
