Gawthorpe problems start again

It comes as no surprise with the game set to be played at Gawthorpe, our training ground is so bad now that the youth team couldn’t even complete their fixtures last season and that after two were moved to the opposition’s training facilities.

Some new drainage was set to be installed during the summer according to the club’s ground director Clive Holt but whether that has been done or not is unknown.

It also has an effect on the Turf Moor pitch which gets too much use due to the players training on it. There were suggestions of the club playing reserve team games at Accrington Stanley (Rochdale are playing there) but with just ten reserve games in the entire season it is hardly likely that they will cause the pitch problems.

The problems are all centred around Gawthorpe which sadly looks to have passed its sell by date as a modern training ground now. Unfortunately that is all we have and we must make the most of it. Let’s hope for some drier weather.
