The council has supported the development of the new training facility and the club said: "We have had great support and worked very closely with the council and we are delighted the committee has endorsed the planning officer's recommendation.
"Burnley Football Club also acknowledges that this policy based decision now needs to be endorsed by the Secretary of State. "
he statement continued: "However, we will carry on working with the council in the coming weeks and all parties remain optimistic that the strength of the case, and the legitimacy of the decision the council has taken, will be endorsed by the Secretary of State on referral and that the scheme will be given the go ahead within 21 days.
That's one stage closer and hopefully that endorsement will be received in order for the club to start work in January 2011.
