Gawthorpe out of action again

Last updated : 11 January 2003 By Tony Scholes
Once again our training ground at Gawthorpe is unfit (or to quote the club unsuitable) to stage a game and this time it is presumably because of a frozen pitch.

This is the sixth time this season that there has been a postponement and once again the youth team players will be struggling to play their fixtures. It is looking increasingly likely that we will have to move some home matches away from home as we did last season and it is also possible that once again we will be unable to fulfil our fixtures.

Since a 2-2 draw against Blackpool on 5th October only one game has been played at Gawthorpe and that in atrocious conditions against Rochdale in mid-November.

Once a top football training area Gawthorpe remains an idyllic venue on a bright sunny day but sadly it can no longer be relied on to stage football matches.

Some games have already been re-arranged but four others, all home games, are now looking for new dates.

The next scheduled home game is 25th January when we are due to take on Bury.
