Gary Parkinson is critical

Gary Parkinson
Gary, who scored our winning goal at Wembley in the 1994 Division Two Play Off Final against Stockport County, is currently working at Blackpool Football Club as Head of Youth Development. Their youth team play at Carlisle tomorrow and that was the reason he had to say no when asked to do the half time draw at our game against Preston.

Gary was taken ill on Tuesday, and taken to Royal Bolton Hospital, but his condition worsened yesterday leading to him being transferred to Hope Hospital.

All we can do for him now is have him and his family in our thoughts and hope and pray he pulls through. Tomorrow, as two of his former clubs, Burnley and Preston, meet in a televised Championship game, it would be nice if supporters of both clubs were given the opportunity to show their support.

Gary was 42 in January of this year, and today four of his former clubs, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Preston and Blackpool, have issued statements on their official web sites.

Best wishes Gary.
