Full Time at Gresty Road Crewe Alexandra 1 Burnley 2

Starting the match with again just Gareth Taylor up front Burnley could be well satisfied with their first half showing.

The Clarets were the dominant force early on in a fairly scrappy game played on a difficult surface and took the lead through Gareth Taylor's 13th league goal of the season.

After seeing his header blocked he reacted quickest to volley home the rebound and his first goal from open play with his feet all season.

Despite being forced to readjust when Gordon Armstrong limped off injured on the half hour Burnley looked well in control.

On 58 minutes the Clarets seemed to have put the game beyond doubt when Alan Moore cut in from the right and curled a glorious shot with his left foot into the far corner.

Just 5 minutes later though Crewe were back in it when Rob Hulse headed home from close range and the pattern of the match changed completely with Crewe now on top and creating chances.

Despite some anxious moments the Clarets hung on for the points and look forward to the visits of Birmingham City and Norwich City to Turf Moor in the coming week.
