Frost signs his first professional contract

I first saw Frost play in the youth team during last season whilst still a schoolboy and it was no surprise when he joined the club last summer after being offered a two year scholarship deal.

I expected to see him playing more regularly in the youth team but he was quickly elevated to the development squad and he's been amongst the goals in the two cup competitions.

He netted in the 4-1 win against Morecambe in the Lancashire Senior Cup and was on the scoresheet in the 3-0 win against Bolton in the 3-0 victory in the round of 16 of the Under-21 Premier League Cup.

He's played occasionally with the youth team too, and was in the team that saw undeservedly was knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by Manchester United, but most of his appearances have been in the behind closed doors friendlies.

He's impressed enough to have won himself this two and a half year contract with manager Sean Dyche saying today: "There are a group of players who we see as pushing forward to be the future of the club and Jamie is one of them, so we look forward to seeing him progress."

Congratulations to Jamie, who was 17 last October, and there is imminent news of at least one other of our young players landing his first professional deal.
