That's when match referee Mark Ackerman went down with an injury and with no designated fourth official it meant problems. A qualified referee in the crowd offered to complete the game on the line but Sinclair's team, at home in the game, rejected that option because they claimed he'd been drinking.
Altrincham coach Ian Senior also offered to run the line but were turned down with Bay boss Sinclair saying: "You can't have any Tom, Dick or Harry come in and finish the last ten minutes of the game.
"One of their staff said he would see the rest of the game out with no qualifications. It's human nature that if there was a big decision to make, we wouldn't have got it."
Colwyn Bay offered no possible solution and so the game was abandoned with seven minutes remaining leaving Altrincham chairman Grahame Rowley adamant that they should be awarded the tie.
Colwyn Bay, however, expected the tie to be replayed tomorrow night and they have won the argument. The rule states: "When a first match has been postponed, or is abandoned before the completion of 90 minutes and neither club being at fault, it shall be played on the same ground on or before the following Thursday."
The FA have today confirmed that the rule will be upheld and the game will be replayed in full tomorrow night at Colwyn Bay.
The winners will be at home to Brackley Town or Leek Town in the First Round.
