Franchise tie off

Last updated : 06 December 2006 By Tony Scholes

The game, due to be played at the Arbories, home of North West Counties club Padiham, was placed in doubt yesterday after the ground had suffered damage following the weekend storms. It was hoped that the game would go ahead, but it was dependent on the weather overnight. That was not good and the game was called off this morning.

As yet there is no new date for the game although the cut off for playing these fixtures is the end of next week and so we can expect a new date to be announced soon.

Ours is not the only 3rd round tie to be called off tonight, the game between Stockport and Southampton, due to be played at Edgeley Park, has also fallen victim to the weather.

This round is already underway with six games having been played to date. The results so far, which include a shock win for Yeovil against Ipswich, are as follows:

West Ham 0 Charlton 1 – after extra time
Millwall 0 Manchester City 0 – after extra time, Millwall won 6-5 on penalties
Exeter 0 Newcastle 4 (played at the Real St. James' Park)
Yeovil 2 Ipswich 2 – after extra time, Yeovil won 5-3 on penalties
Leeds 2 Hull 2 – after extra time, Hull won 4-3 on penalties
Doncaster 2 Derby 4
