Brian Easton - has done really well
Manager Brian Laws was hoping to see the left-back fit again but said today: "It's been hard to pin it down on the length of time he will be out because there was quite a bit of swelling. That has now gone and he is more mobile.

"Hopefully come the weekend we should have a clearer picture because the scan results will come through and give us an indication of how long he's going to be out. The supporters will have to bear with us until we can conclusively give the right diagnosis and the period of time he's going to be out."

That means Brian Easton will again deputise and that will give him his first away game in the league for Burnley. Laws had considered bringing in a loan player but has been impressed with Big Sheena and said: "It's important you don't dismiss your own players. Brian is there for a reason. He was brought into this club because he's a good player.

"The test will be when he is thrown into the lion's den and how does he cope with it? He has coped very well. I think his performances have shown he is a good replacement. He has grown into the games and done really well.

"It has taken me a step back from maybe jumping into the market. There are other areas we have to look at but I am not going to go into the loan market just for the sake of it, just to bring a body in when we already have enough.

"If we do bring somebody in they have got to go into the team. The decision has to be right and the player has to be right."

Laws did confirm that Paterson could be available and will be checked ahead of the game. "Pato has trained this week and will train again on Friday with an assessment to see if he's up to scratch for the Coventry game."
