Four players released plus one on the list

Garreth O'Connor - placed on the transfer list
There are no surprises at all, we knew Branchy was leaving at the end of this season and Frank's loan move to Huddersfield was always with a view to a permanent signing. Johnny Mac hasn't played since coming off injured at Southend and Danny was left out for the home game with Luton at the end of March and has been on the bench since.

Branchy of course was the longest serving player, but that title now belongs to Brian Jensen who has been with the Clarets for four years since signing from West Brom in the summer of 2003. He is now the only player remaining who was at the club when manager Steve Cotterill arrived.

The other three were amongst his first summer signings in 2004. There's no doubt that both McGreal and Sinclair proved to be fantastic signings whilst for Coyne we never really did get to see the best of him because of the two serious injuries he suffered.

Garreth O'Connor has been placed on the list after making only eight substitute appearances during this season's league season. He hasn't started a game since the away game at Stoke in March last year.

Cotterill spoke highly of all four of the players he's released and of O'Connor said: "Garreth needs to play and he's not done a lot of that this season. He needs to get out there, so I had a chat with him at the end of the season and we have come to the conclusion that we would put him on the list and see what materialises."

It's always sad to see players leave, and there's no doubt we'll miss the four of them. On behalf of Clarets Mad I'd like to thank them all for the service they have given our club, hope they soon get fixed up elsewhere, and wish them all the very best.
