Foster gets second Burnley game

He had a decent enough game that night with Scott Dann, the Coventry defender, the only player to receive a yellow card from him. He joined the Football League list for the 2006/07 season and this was only his third game at Championship level.

Now in his fifth season he still operates mainly in the two lower divisions but he's had two previous Championship games this season.

Looking at his record I can't see him making extensive use of his cards. He averaged under two yellow cards per game last season and this season he's not much higher with seventeen yellows in seven games.

Those cards are evenly spread too with eight going to home players and nine to away players. To date there have been no red cards and since sending off two Crewe players in a game in August last year he's only sent one other player off.

His last game came a week last Saturday when he refereed Sheffield United's 1-0 home defeat to Coventry. There were no cards in that game.

That one previous Burnley game earned him a rating of 78.00 in RATE THE REF where he is currently in tenth place.

The assistant referees are Ross Joyce (Cleveland) and Jeremy Simpson (Lancashire). The fourth official tonight is Robert Jones (Merseyside).
