Former star in French move?

Who could it be I thought? Which former Claret, a star at that, had opted for a move to a team who are, at best, average in the French Second Division, or Ligue 2 to give it its correct title?

I had to investigate, and to my surprise/horror I found it was striker Frédéric Nimani who was with the Clarets earlier this year on a loan deal from Monaco.

He's now apparently moved to Nantes, from Monaco, for the season, but I'm still trying to establish the use of the word star, and then it dawned on me.

He might have only made two substitute appearances for the first team, in the away games at Bolton and Aston Villa, but his last appearance in a Burnley shirt remains memorable.

That came on the Tuesday before the last game of the season, at Accrington, when he not only played, but scored, for the reserves in a 3-2 win against Blackburn Rovers in our last ever reserve game at the Crown Ground.

Now, that does make him a star.
