Copenhagen loan move for Alex Kačaniklić

Co-chairman Mike Garlick, early in the day, had said that no players would be leaving and that proved to be the case, but there was news on three former loan players, two who moved and one who might still move.

Shane Duffy, the central defender who joined us on loan from Everton in the 2010/11 season, but made only one appearance, moved fairly early in the day to Blackburn in a deal reported to be worth £1.5 million.

Duffy's stay at Burnley was short. He was with us for just a month and was left out of the side after a debut against Ipswich. His brief stay brought some of his relatives to the Clarets Mad message board who were quick to point out that things weren't all they should be at Burnley.

Earlier that season we'd also loaned John Guidetti from Manchester City. He's since had a torrid time because of an illness that came close to ending his career, but fit again it looked certain he was on his way to Celtic in a long term loan deal.

Apparently part of the required documentation was received by the Scottish FA shortly after the midnight deadline for received and therefore FIFA have not allowed registration of the transfer. The SFA have now appealed to FIFA on Celtic's behalf so it may still go through.

One loan deal for a former Burnley loanee did go through. that of Alex Kačaniklić from Fulham to FC Copenhagen. The Swedish international signed for two clubs on Monday; firstly he signed a new two year deal to remain at Fulham and then signed the loan deal that will see him play for the Danish side for the entire 2014/15 season.

Meanwhile, four former youth team players have been on the move recently, including Neal Trotman who was released by Plymouth at the end of last season. He's remained in the South West and has signed for Bristol Rovers in the Vanarama Conference and he's played in four of their league games so far.

Chris Lynch, a member of the 2008/09 youth team who spent two years as a professional at Burnley, is still in recovery from a second serious knee operation. His current club Southport initially sent him out to Burscough on loan to get some game time and he's now joined FC United of Manchester in a similar deal where he's teamed up with former Burnley youth team colleague Dean Stott.

Finally some news on two former youth team goalkeepers. Josh Cook played in the FA Youth Cup semi-final against Blackburn in 2012 but was released at the end of that season when his scholarship came to an end. He signed for Warrington Town but has now moved to Ashton United.

As Cook left, one of the new goalkeepers in the youth team was Callum Jakovlevs from Rossendale. Callum wasn't offered a contract at the end of last season and has now joined Bacup & Rossendale Borough.

Update: John Guidetti has subsequently joined Celtic on a season long loan after approval from FIFA.
