Former loan player joins promotion race

At the end of January Delroy Facey surprisingly made the move from Bolton to West Brom in what is believed to have been a £50,000 transfer and now his former Bolton colleague Gareth Farrelly is also on the move.

Farrelly, with Facey at Burnley for just short of three months, has signed for 3rd place Wigan until the end of the season after terminating his contract with Bolton last week.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder played 14 games for the Clarets before he was sent back during his last month and he almost immediately joined Bryan Robson at the Bradford & Bingley Pulse Flamingo Land Pension Fund Valley Parade Stadium on another loan deal.

That came to an end at the end of last month after 15th league appearance for the struggling BRBC but on his return to the Reebok was greeted with his departure papers.

Like Facey at West Brom he has only been given a contract until the end of this season and then the pair of them will be free agents in the summer.

Neither of them impressed to any great extent at Burnley and there were sounds of relief when Farrelly’s signing at the concrete jungle of the JJB was confirmed.
