Former Clarets on the move

John Mullin - signed for Tranmere
The 37 year old Crichton returned to the football league last summer, signing a two year deal with Gillingham where he was cover for first team goalkeeper Jason Brown as well as goalkeeping coach. He played just the one game in the first team and kept a clean sheet in the home game against Yeovil last October.

Ronnie Jepson has released him from his contract to allow him to move back into the Conference with Cambridge where again he will be responsible for coaching the goalkeepers but where he will also be first choice keeper.

Cambridge boss Rob Newman said: “We were close to signing him last season but we couldn't agree a deal, but he's come around again and he's still fit and I think he'll be a tremendous asset to the club.”

That transfer was followed with the news that John Mullin has moved on after almost five years with Rotherham United and joined Tranmere Rovers on a two year deal. In doing so he has signed once again for Ronnie Moore, the manager who paid Burnley £150,000 for his services back in October 2001.

Moore was delighted with his third summer signing and commented: “John has a good engine and likes to get forward. Hopefully he will get goals for us as we are looking to be an attacking side.”

John will have played at Prenton Park for Rotherham but he could only recall his performance there in our 3-2 win following our promotion and said he was looking forward to his new challenge.
