Former Claret reaches the Land of the Unprofessionals

That was Australian defender Mark Robertson who had been with Dundee since March 2001 after a short unsuccessful spell with Swindon Town. That all came about when he turned down a new offer from the Clarets after we had won promotion to Division One.

Ironically when the redundancy came from Dundee he was actually playing for St. Johnstone on loan having had a previous loan period with them in the 2002/03 season. They took over his contract but a longer deal looked out of the question.

But Mark is now back in England after signing for Stockport in a deal that is initially to the end of the season but with an option for a further year. They are currently in Division Two’s bottom four and look as though they could finally return to the 3rd Division, the result of what Carlton Palmer described as a successful spell as manager.

New boss Sammy McIlroy will be hoping that he can help turn things round and the player himself said: "After speaking to the manager and the chairman it was an easy decision to join Stockport County".
