Former Claret in Team of the Week

The only chance of anyone getting in from last week’s game would have been a member of the Brighton side and that is exactly happened with their debutant central defender Adam Hinshelwood, the nephew of manager Martin, winning a place in the line up.

The full team selected was: Shaka Hislop (Portsmouth), Derek Geary (Sheffield Wednesday), Adam Hinshelwood (Brighton and Hove Albion), Gerry Taggart (Leicester City), Darren Kenton (Norwich City), Michael Brown (Sheffield United), Chris Sedgwick (Rotherham United), Andy Hessenthaler (Gillingham), Nigel Quashie (Portsmouth), Paul McVeigh (Norwich City), Darren Byfield (Rotherham United).

There was though a place in the Division Two team for an ex-Claret who was making his league debut for his new club Mansfield Town, Neil Moore. The central defender brought in by Chris Waddle left Burnley in the summer of 1999 at the end of Stan’s first season in charge. His last appearance for the Clarets was the 6-0 Turf Moor debacle against Manchester City.

After a few games in the 3rd Division for Macclesfield the following season he moved on to Telford in March 2000 and was with them, as captain, until the end of last season. Now 29 he was a surprise signing by Stewart Watkiss for Mansfield following their promotion last season.

His inclusion in the Team of the Week is somewhat surprising though, in his first two games for his new club playing in defence they have conceded six goals.
