Former captain's son dies

Jonathan was living in Southern Italy with his partner Karen Johnson and was teaching English. He choked on some food last Friday and was found dead by Karen at their apartment.

Colin, his wife Jenny and eldest son Nicholas are devastated at the news and have flown out to Italy with Karen’s family and will bring Jonathan home later this week.

Burnley fans will remember Colin Waldron as the regular centre half during our renaissance in the mid 1970s, the team that came close to bringing honours back to Turf Moor. He captained the side on two separate occasions.

He had previously played for Bury and Chelsea and later was at Manchester United, Sunderland and finally Rochdale.

The thoughts and sympathies of every one at Clarets Mad are very much with Colin, Jenny, Nicholas and Karen at this dreadful time for them.
