When Randall arrived at Turf Moor in January 2008 he was being billed as being among the next generation of Arsenal stars by manager Arsène Wenger, but things didn't work out for him there and after loans at MK and Rotherham he moved to Chesterfield on a permanent basis in the summer of 2011.
In two years at Chesterfield he never really established himself and it came as no surprise when he was released by former Claret Paul Cook at the end of last season.
When the 2013/14 season got underway he was without a club; when the summer transfer window closed he was still without a club. Then, on 10th September 2013, he landed himself a two year deal with Italian Lega Pro club Ascoli.
He loved it in Italy, despite playing only four times. He said it suited his game more than English football, but there were more pressing problems. He left them in January this year, just four months into his two year contract, and claimed he hadn't been paid for three months.
"I stuck it out as long as I could but there comes a point where you have to put your foot down," Randall said.
He's since been in search for a new club and a couple of weeks ago agreed to return to the MK Franchise only to then have a two week wait until they received the international clearance from the Italian FA.
That's done and he's in their squad for the game against Peterborough today. "He's from MK, he's a talented footballer and he suits our style," said manager Karl Robinson.
But I'm not sure League One is where Randall wanted to be. In January he also said "Everything in Italy is more technical. Obviously Arsenal was technical, but it's totally different football in League One and League Two. The ball is flying over your head and everyone is charging round like headless chickens."
