Football crisis continues

Bradford City fans on the last day of last season at Walsall - it could have been their last ever league game
Further to that the football authorities allowed Charles Koppel to stitch them up and granted permission for the formation of a new club called Franchise FC to be given a place in the First Division and be allowed, when they themselves deem appropriate, to play their home games in Milton Keynes.

We have had clubs going in and out of administration so quickly it has been difficult to keep up with everything but one club has been in administration for some time, First Division Bradford City. The future is looking pretty bleak in that area of West Yorkshire just now and it is looking increasingly likely that they will not be playing in the Football League come 10th August.

They have been given until 8th August to come up with an acceptable financial rescue package. If the creditors do not accept that package or if sufficient funds cannot be guaranteed for the whole season then they will not be allowed to play next season in the Football League.

Currently it is looking as though that could well happen with the funding not available and the administrators are hoping for unsecured creditors to accept 10p in the £1. That would need a 75% majority to accept. If not the club faces liquidation with debts in excess of £35 million.

For those that have been running Bradford City I have no sympathy and I sincerely hope the football authorities get something right and prevent Mr. Pompous Geoffrey Richmond from ever being involved in the game again. For those who support Bradford City I have nothing but sympathy for, to be sat waiting to see whether your club will ever play football again must be horrendous.

Things are looking really bleak and they called of a pre-season game at Telford on Saturday because it is believed that the players (who are not being paid) refused to play. The club though claimed they could not raise a team because of injuries. And as it stands right now it is looking as though Burnley could have free dates in September and March in what could become a 23 team First Division.
