Flood became a director in December 2006, becoming the tenth member of the board and after a special resolution was passed at the AGM to make it possible.
By summer of the following year he and chairman Barry Kilby took the positions of joint operational directors after the departure of chief executive Dave Edmundson.
In 2011 he became the club's largest shareholder, and remains so, after he and newest director John Banaszkiewicz bought shares from Kilby.
Earlier today he tweeted: "I have settled my bank dispute, which has taken a lot out of me both financially and emotionally. 3 months off needed. Bye for now."
Soon after the 'bye for now' the news of his standing down was confirmed by the club which wished to place on record its sincere thanks for his contribution to the club, of which he remains a valued supporter and significant shareholder.
