Fletcher had joined up with the Scots for what will be Craig Levein's first game in charge having replaced George Burley. But training this morning in Scotland he suffered the injury and is now on his way back to Burnley.

Hopefully it won't keep him out of the Burnley side and manager Brian Laws believes he should be OK for Arsenal on Saturday. Laws said: "He has been for an X-ray and is coming back to us.

"We need to get it checked out again but we feel confident that he will be available to play at the weekend with some sort of cast."

Fletcher currently leads the way for the Clarets in terms of goals with seven in the Premier League and eleven in total this season.
