However, Owen Coyle has decided that it will benefit him to spend six months in Glasgow with Partick Thistle and a deal is close that will see him head up there hoping to get his first piece of first team action.
He was one of five youngsters offered a professional deal, no surprise after the success of the youth team last season.
It was a season that saw Wes prolific in front of goal. He netted no fewer than 38 goals for the reserve and youth teams.
Such was his form that he trained with the first team at the end of last season and now Owen Coyle is ready to let him go out on loan to gain further experience.
If and when this deal goes through he'll be the second Burnley player to head to Scotland on loan with Alex MacDonald having joined Falkirk until January.
