Fletcher goes to Grimsby

Wes Fletcher
Fletcher looked all set to head north of the border in the summer to spend the first half of the season on loan at Partick Thistle, but for one reason or another that fell through and he's remained at Burnley and impressed in his limited opportunities in the reserves.

Now, he's got the chance of playing some league football and has joined the Mariners, where Brian Laws started his managerial career, for a month with suggestions that it could be extended.

He could make his Football League debut tomorrow after going straight into their squad for the home game against Cheltenham, a vital game at the bottom of League Two. Grimsby are currently in the bottom two places whilst Cheltenham, with six points more, sit two places above them.

Wes is the second of the first year professionals to go out on loan. Chris Lynch moved to Chester, along with second year pro Adam Kay, but returned early with a serious knee injury.

Clarets Mad would like to wish Wes all the best whilst he's with Grimsby Town.
