Central defenders Nik Kudiersky and Chris Lynch, midfielders Chris Anderson and Alex-Ray Harvey and striker Wes Fletcher have all made a massive contribution to both the youth and reserve teams this season and have now added to their Central League Champions medals with one year deals at Turf Moor.

Director of Youth Development Martin Dobson said: "Since I have been working here, I've been delighted with the hard graft and work which has been put in. We know what it takes to be a professional footballer, attitude, ability and all the other ingredients.

"It's not an easy profession and you really have to work at it. We've mentioned that to the five new lads who are absolutely delighted to sign professional contracts, but the hard work for them starts now.

"It's a whole different ball game, they are going from boys to men now. Mental strength as well as their ability on the ball will be very important, but every day they will get guidance from everybody at the football club to be successful."

After they had all signed, manager Owen Coyle added: "First and foremost we are absolutely thrilled to have signed these five players and we have said before that the way ahead for this football club is through youth.

"Having these five young lads from our youth team to become first year professionals is an opportunity for them to go and really flourish and get to the maximum of their potential.

"Each and every one of them are different individually, but they all have ability and a desire to be the best they can be and that's the type of players we want at this football club."
