First promotions and relegations confirmed

Geraint Williams - his Colchester side are back in League One
Derby will be back in the Championship after just one season in the Premier League that has seen them win less games than they have had managers. That total of wins is one, a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United back in September. They've also gone out of the two cup competitions to Blackpool and Preston and their only cup win, against Sheffield Wednesday, was via a penalty shoot out.

Despite winning promotion for them in his first season in charge the poor results cost Little Billy Davies his job in November but new man Paul Jewell is still to find his first win after 22 games despite bringing in eight new players during the transfer window.

It was inevitable that relegation would follow and the only thing they have to play for now is to try and win five points from their last five games to avoid being the league's worst ever team.

As they prepare for Championship football then Colchester are back on their way to League One after two years. Last season saw them finish in tenth place after winning promotion in 2006 but the loss of five of their regular first team players. Including goalscorers Jamie Cureton and Chris Iwelumo, gave them little hope of repeating that.

Their relegation was confirmed when Barnsley beat Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday leaving them twelve points from safety with Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester still to play each other. They will now move into their new ground next season once more a League One club.
