First Burnley game for Foster

Last updated : 17 February 2009 By Tony Scholes

Just two weeks ago he was in action having to deal with both Owen Coyle and Tony Mowbray during our cup replay against West Brom when he was fourth official, but this will be his first Burnley game in the middle.

In fact it is his first Championship game this season and just his third since becoming a Football League referee at the start of the 2006/07 season. The other two came last season at Scunthorpe and Blackpool.

I can't recall having seen him referee but I can report that this season he's refereed sixteen games, two in the FA Cup and the remainder in Leagues One and Two. In those games he's only handed out 22 yellow cards along with four red cards.

Of those cards, 8 of the yellows have gone to home team players and 14 to away team players, and all four of the red cards have been given to away team players.

He will be assisted by Ken Haycock (West Yorkshire) and Andrew Scregg (Merseyside) with fourth official duties in the hands of Ryan Johnson (Greater Manchester).
