First Burnley game for Crossley

Carrow Road won't be a new venue for him, he was referee for Norwich's home game against Stoke in March of this year and he also refereed their away Premiership game against West Brom in the 2004/05 season, one of two Premiership games he was given that season.

Since then it has been back to the Football League. His 2005/06 season didn't get underway until November and within three games he'd twice produced the red card, and the first of those is a name familiar to Burnley fans, Crewe's Stephen Foster in their 4-1 defeat at Luton.

Four days later he dismissed Hull goalkeeper Boaz Myhill as they fought out a 2-2 draw away to QPR at Loftus Road. Since then, in a total of 31 more games there has not been a single red card.

The yellow cards haven't been too plentiful either, and this season in nine games he's handed out just fifteen, and in three of those games there have been no cards at all. Eight of those yellow cards have gone to home players, and seven to away players.

His last game saw the away side, Hartlepool, score five goals – they beat Peterborough 5-3. A repeat of that scoreline would be good, although maybe we could keep Norwich down to a few less than three goals.

He will be assisted by Tony Mason (Kent) and Gary Young (Bedfordshire) whilst Football League referee Kevin Wright (Cambridgeshire) comes in as a late replacement for Grant Hegley as fourth official. Wright has twice refereed Burnley games, at Brighton last season and the same game in the season before.
