Final set for the Turf

Last updated : 29 March 2004 By Tony Scholes

Although still to be confirmed the match is scheduled to go ahead on Monday 26th April, presumably with a 7:00 p.m. kick off.

Two fantastic home wins against the more favoured Preston and Tranmere have seen the Clarets reach the final for the first time since a Phil Eastwood strike won the competition for us nine seasons ago with a 1-0 over Manchester City at Maine Road.

The two wins to get to the final were both 1-0 with Alex Taylor scoring against Preston and skipper Ryan Townsend, harshly sent off in the Preston tie, scoring the only goal of the game against Tranmere.

Only 225 saw the December win over Preston and after getting hardly any publicity there were even less, just 218, at the Tranmere game.

Once the date and time is confirmed Clarets Mad will continue to publicise this match, these lads will be representing our club in a cup final and deserve far more than just over 200 watching them.

We might not be asking you to yell out for the youths but certainly asking those Clarets who can get there to support the lads on their big day in four weeks time.
