Fee agreed for Caldwell

Clarets' boss Steve Cotterill has confirmed that he has held discussions with the player after being given permission to speak to him by the RK Sunderland. The fee is now agreed and the decision now rests with the player who has returned to the North East to consider the offer.

“We have agreed a fee with them and we are now waiting to hear back from the player and/or his agent”, Cotterill said. “I met Steve on Wednesday at the ground, and we are now just awaiting the decision and he would be a good signing for the club.”

That's the news from the club on this with further speculation this morning suggesting the fee could be anything from £400,000 to £750,000 although I believe it could be much closer to the lower figure.

We should know soon whether Caldwell will become Steve Cotterill's fifth signing during this transfer window following the captures of Ade Akinbiyi and Joey Gudjonsson as well as the loan signings of Mike Pollitt and Eric Djemba-Djemba.
