Farrelly makes unexpected return to Bolton

There is surely no reason why Bolton should have called him back so it looks very likely that Stan has decided that he no longer requires his services and has sent him back to the Reebok.

Farrelly, along with fellow Bolton player Delroy Facey who remains at Burnley and Blackburn’s Andy Todd, made his debut for the Clarets in a 2-1 win at Stoke and there is no doubt that he impressed all the travelling Clarets that afternoon.

He played the first 73 minutes before being replaced by Paul Weller after collecting what at first was thought to be a serious injury. The performance certainly deteriorated after that.

But that was his best performance during his first month’s loan whilst the second month saw him spending more time on the subs bench as illness prevented him from playing a full part.

More recently he has been back in the side but his performances in the recent away defeats at Sheffield United and Derby have left a lot to be desired. He would have been returning anyway after the Sunderland game but it looks like enough was enough for Stan and he has decided to send him back early.

This of course immediately sparks of thoughts that there could be incoming players and given the size of our squad it is somewhat unlikely that we would be too keen to reduce numbers so easily. The suggestions from within Turf Moor are that there could be a new signing before weekend.

Meanwhile Farrelly was quickly back in action for Bolton and was in action at Leyland tonight for their reserve team which was beaten 2-0 by KKMC reserves with Jonathan Macken scoring both goals.
