Andy was one of the ‘post Orient’ players who came in during that 1987 summer as Brian Miller set about improving the team. He cost us £5,000 from his home town club of Colchester and that proved to be a superb piece of business by Miller.

Andy was at the club for over seven years, played in virtually every position on the field including goalkeeper on one occasion when Chris Pearce was sent off against Stockport.

In 1994 at Wembley he came on as a substitute for the injured John Francis in the play off final, again against Stockport, and in doing so became the only Claret to play for the club twice at Wembley.

It was though to be his last appearance in a Claret & Blue shirt and in September of the following season he was sold to Wigan Athletic.

In total he made 257 league appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals. Two of those goals came in a 2-1 win against Carlisle in 1991 when he became the first substitute ever to score twice for the Clarets.

He has been back at the Turf since and until recently was in the Football in the Community team as a coach. He is still involved though with the Centre of Excellence and despite the rather strange accent is very much a committed Claret.
