Facey is back in Horwich

The first week of September saw major transfer activity at Turf Moor with a total of five loan signings, three in and two out, in the space of four days. Chairman Barry Kilby said at the time that we had always been looking at strengthening the squad with loan signings once the Premiership window closed.

Gareth Farrelly and Delroy Facey arrived from Bolton although we had to let Glen Little go in exchange. Then Andy Todd was signed from local rivals Blackburn before Arthur was on his way to QPR after a strong and public blasting from Ronnie Jepson.

But one by one they have all returned to their clubs and today Facey was the last of them to pack his bags. He has returned to Bolton after we failed to match their valuation on him.

The vibes coming from the Reebok this week suggest that they have finally lost patience with Burnley as we appeared to dither on whether we could sign him or not. It certainly comes as no surprise to me that he has returned, surely we are not in a position where we can spend £200,000 on a player in any case.

That doesn’t mean it is the end of the matter though and Facey, who is way down Allardyce’s pecking order, might yet make a return to Turf Moor in the New Year in some sort of exchange. He has said all along that he would like to go back and try to win a place in the Bolton side but if he fails to do that he would be on the look out for a move.

There are strong rumours that Glen will be on his way in January and Bolton are considered favourites to sign him. His absence from our club’s 2004 calendar has done nothing to dispel those rumours.
