Eyres moves on

Eyres, released by Oldham at the end of last season, was hoping to remain in the Football League, but after missing out following a trial with Bury that saw him sit on the bench in their pre-season game against the Clarets, he signed for Nationwide Conference North club Hyde United.

He was in the first team at Hyde, and scored two goals for them in their away games against Workington and Alfreton Town, but he's moved on to Mossley who are struggling towards the bottom of the Unibond's top division.

Eyres was one of three signings made by manager Jason Beckford, the former Manchester City player who replaced Ally Pickering as manager, and with those new players Mossley followed up a draw against Hednesford, when another former Claret Joel Pilkington was named man of the match, with another point against Prescot Cables.

He'll be 43 in February, and it is believe he has signed for the Thameside club until the end of the season.
