Eyres goals count for nothing

The player is Oldham Athletic's David Eyres and even then it wasn't a successful week for him despite scoring in two games.

In midweek the Latics were at home to Blackpool in the LDV Trophy Northern Semi-Final. Eyresy scored in the first minute of the second half to pull Oldham level at 2-2 but it wasn't to be and they were finally beaten 5-2.

Again on Saturday he scored Oldham's second goal although he left it a little later this time, scoring in the second minute of the second half. This time it gave Oldham a 2-0 lead at Chesterfield but again it was to no avail and Chesterfield came back to win the game 4-2.

This was another of those crazy games where one club allowed its own players to play against them on loan. Mark Allott is currently at Chesterfield on loan from Oldham and it was Allott who started the fightback, scoring Chesterfield's goal.

Not as though Burnley haven't done it in the past and back in 1984 Kevin Young, on loan to Port Vale, scored against us at Vale Park although we did go on to win the game 3-2 with a hat-trick from Steve Daly.
