Ex-Clarets with no clubs

Gary Parkinson - released by Blackpool
Two of the six, Luigi Cennamo and Tony Ellis, are now out of the country. Luigi was believed to be looking for a club in Italy and Tony Ellis is now playing his football in Australia.

That leaves Kevin Ball, Lenny Johnrose, Mitchell Thomas and John Williamson all on the look out for new clubs and none of them have been fixed up although we are aware that Bally has had talks with a couple of clubs.

They are just a small number of players searching for new clubs. Only last week the PFA in a crazy statement said they were relieved that the increase in the number of players available was minimal. That may be the case but the number who don't find new clubs could be much higher than in previous years.

Besides the four released at the end of last season there are another eight players in the same position who have previously played for the Clarets.

We are all aware that Marlon Beresford has now left Middlesbrough and is looking for new employers and another goalkeeper Gavin Ward, with us in 1998/99 on loan, is in the same position having been released by Stoke.

Danny Sonner left Birmingham and has recently been on trial at Wolves but the Molineux club have decided against offering him a contract. To those can be added Kurt Nogan who has left Cardiff having not played in a first team game for well over a year, Phil Gray who has been given a free by Oxford and Steve Guinan is looking for a new club, he was one of Adrian Heath's less than inspired loan signings.

Finally there's Steve Harper who left Burnley for Doncaster nine years ago, he has just been released by Darlington and also on the look out for work is the scorer of our winning Wembley goal Gary Parkinson, no longer required at Blackpool.

Hopefully some, if not all, of them will be fixed up by the time the new season starts.
