Just a year ago we reported that Steve Jones, who was with Burnley for three years from 2006 to 2009, had signed for Welsh Premier League club Airbus UK Broughton having decided to leave AFC Telford.

Jones, who will be 38 in October, had a difficult season with injuries but he did play in Airbus UK Broughton's two Europa League ties against Ventspils and scored five goals in 22 league appearances, 17 of which were starts.

He's now opted to move closer to home and has signed for his local club Nantwich Town who are members of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division. He is one of a number of new signings made by manager Danny Johnson this close season which also includes Adam Jones and Mark Jones.

Johnson said of the signing: "I'm thrilled that Steve is joining us. Steve has kept himself very fit and still has a huge amount to offer and I'm sure our fans will be as excited as I am that he is joining Nantwich Town.

Meanwhile, after suffering relegation from the Conference Premier, Duane Courtney has moved on to return to the league he's just left.

He's been with Tamworth for the past three seasons. Last season he was in a team alongside another former Burnley defender Wayne Thomas,  but they ended it next to bottom of the league and are now facing next season in Conference North.

It was a disappointing season for Tamworth, and for Courtney who had enjoyed his best season in 2012/13, winning all three of the manager's, players' and supporters' player of the year awards.

Courtney has now been persuaded by long serving manager Nicky Law to join Alfreton, a club who flirted with the play-offs last season but ultimately ended the season in 11th place, ten points behind the top five.

Injury ruled Courtney out from late January but he is now set to continue in the Conference Premier for a sixth successive season having previously played in that league for both Kidderminster and York before joining Tamworth.
