Ex-Clarets amongst the goals

Paul Shaw wins the ball from Derby's Rob Lee during last night's win for Gillingham
In total three ex-Clarets have found the net in the Tuesday and Wednesday evening fixtures and all of them in the First Division with two last night and one tonight.

All three were important goals as they helped their sides to draws or wins and the first on the mark was former loan player Paul Shaw who is now with Gillingham. Shaw scored the only goal of the game against relegated Derby with just 16 minutes gone giving Gillingham their second win after a 1-0 win last Saturday against Franchise at Selhurst Park.

Not far behind him was Rotherham’s Alan Lee. He didn’t score a league goal until November last season but this time round got off the mark in their first home game. He hadn’t scored in their 6-0 win at Millwall on the opening day but scored the first Millmoor goal of the season after 68 minutes last night against Norwich. In the end it won Rotherham a point with David Nielson equalising for Norwich just three minutes from time.

Tonight it was the turn of a player who last scored a league goal for the Clarets. David Johnson is now back at Forest and also back in the team. They were trailing to Preston by two goals to nil when Johnno scored to pull one back. It proved vital with Jess adding a second to eventually pick up a point.

Forest and Preston had both lost their opening games and that draw leaves just Walsall and ourselves as the only two clubs in the division without a point.
