Jamie Hoyland - playing for Sheffield United
The player in question is Jamie Hoyland who was born in Sheffield and was a Sheffield United fan although now living in Rossendale I suspect his allegiance might just be with the home team tomorrow.

Jimmy Mullen brought him to Turf Moor, initially on loan, and he made his debut in the centre of defence in a 0-0 draw at Roker Park against Sunderland but for much of that season played in a midfield role when Mullen adopted the diamond system.

He was with us for just short of four years but left as Stan came in during the summer of 1998 and had one more season of league football at Scarborough which took him past 400 career league games.

He moved into coaching and was for a time the assistant manager of Rochdale but he is now working for Mitre the company who provide the balls for the Football League and also supplied Burnley’s kit at the time he first signed.

Tomorrow though he will be back on the Turf making the half time Golden Gamble draw and will be welcomed by supporters of both clubs.
