Ex Claret and Stoke player Vince is guest

Big Vince started his career at Turf Moor alongside his brother Richard, the two partnered each other when Vince made his debut against Orient in 1979.

He established himself in the first team and was a vital member of the side that won the 3rd Division title in 1982. Disappointingly an injury towards the end of that season ruled him out for virtually the whole of the following season as we came straight back down.

After a season of playing on a week to week contract, he moved on and was signed by his former Burnley boss John Bond who took him to Birmingham and his next move also saw him signed by a former manager when Lou Macari took him to the then Victoria Ground at Stoke.

He led Stoke to success at Wembley in what is now the LDV Vans Trophy and also to promotion from Division Two in 1993 when their last game of the season was against the Clarets.

In 1996 he returned to the Turf, signed by Adrian Heath, but it didn’t work out because of injury and he played only a few games, along with some out on loan before being forced to retire.

He’s still at Turf Moor today and is a regional coach with the Football in the Community team based in the leisure centre but tomorrow will be back out on the pitch to make the half time draw, assured of a warm welcome from all four sides of the ground.
