Everton at the Turf

David Moyes - agreed to bring his Everton side to Burnley
The match will take place on the evening of Thursday 22nd July although no kick off time has as yet been confirmed.

It is three years since we played them, also in a pre-season game, and that was the night Arthur Gnohere made his first appearance in a Burnley shirt.

Everton were still under the management of Walter Smith then and they went on to win 1-0 with a goal from Niclas Alexandersson.

Apart from Arthur it was also a first appearance on the Turf for trialist Paul Hughes who started the game and for Luigi Cennamo, Mark McGregor, Tony Ellis, Dimitri Papadopoulos and Alan Moore.

At the time I wrote: “Alan Moore did well and he is a clearly a player who likes to take his man on down the left hand side. Papadopoulos came on to a superb reception but struggled to get into the game whilst Luigi Cennamo made one excellent block.

”Arthur Gnohere though looked very impressive. He did everything that was asked of him at the back and he has an excellent touch on the ball. He looks to pass the ball well and also caused a threat in the Everton box on a couple of occasions.”

There’ll be more new players to get a first look at when they visit again and just to show how much change there has been at Burnley in the last three years the teams from July 2001 are below:
