England make changes

Scott Carson - called up to the Turf Moor squad
Towards the end of the season Foster aggravated a knee injury that he first suffered back in January and, given that he won't be fit for any of the forthcoming games, he's returned to Manchester United to receive treatment.

That left Tottenham's Paul Robinson as the only keeper but McClaren has added two more to the squad. West Ham's Robert Green has joined up whilst Scott Carson, the Liverpool keeper who spent last season on loan at Charlton, has been promoted from the Under-21s.

The England squad are currently training at Manchester United's training complex at Carrington, and it is reported that all the other players in the squad are fit and have been training today, although there has been speculation that Owen Hargreaves, a player who could make a £17 million move from Bayern Munich to Manchester United this week, is out through an injury. The FA are currently reporting that not to be the case.

Burnley hosted an Under-20 international last season, and back in 1995 staged an Under-21 game, but this is the biggest international at the Turf since a full international was played between England and Wales in 1927.

The revised squad is:

Goalkeepers: Paul Robinson (Spurs), Robert Green (West Ham), Scott Carson (Liverpool).

Defenders: Phil Neville (Everton), Joleon Lescott (Everton), Michael Dawson (Spurs), Ledley King (Spurs), Steven Taylor (Newcastle), Gareth Barry (Aston Villa), Nicky Shorey (Reading).

Midfielders: Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Phil Jagielka (Sheffield Utd), Aaron Lennon (Spurs), Kieron Dyer (Newcastle), Scott Parker (Newcastle), Jermaine Jenas (Spurs), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), David Bentley (Blackburn).

Forwards: Michael Owen (Newcastle), Jermain Defoe (Spurs), Alan Smith (Manchester Utd) David Nugent (Preston).
